Colic
Transient lactose intolerance has been identified as a possible causative factor in infant colic¹.
Infant colic affects between 10% & 30% of babies between 3 and 13 weeks whether breast-fed or formula-fed¹.
Research suggests that infant colic may have multiple causes and in a significant number of cases the immediate cause is
transient lactose intolerance.
Treatment:
Pre-treatment of feeds with a
lactase enzyme replacement can result in considerable symptomatic benefits. The effect of lactase enzyme treatment on colic babies significantly reduced crying¹.
